The project developes policies and methods to tackle child poverty through participation of affected families. Socially disadvantaged people are encouraged in the sense of "empowerment" to stand up for their own interests and concerns and to improve their living conditions together with the community.
Off Road Kids is the only nationwide operating organization that helps street children in Germany. Without governmental subsidies Off Road Kids runs own street work stations in four big towns, as well as a parent helpline, two children's homes and its own educational institute. The fundamental objective is to create the best prospect for any young people and to prevent runaways from becoming street children.
